Additional Information
Why are we parading?
We parade as a powerful act of remembrance and celebration, deeply rooted in the history of Caribbean Carnival, particularly in Trinidad & Tobago. Carnival in Trinidad & Tobago originated as a form of resistance during colonial times. Throughout the years, it has evolved into a vibrant celebration symbolizing freedom and liberation. We parade to honor our ancestors’ struggles and achievements, celebrating their legacy through music, culture, and a profound sense of togetherness and freedom.
What can I expect at the parade?
You can expect an exciting and vibrant celebration filled with lots of dancing, Soca music blasting from a float, colourful costumes, and people having a great time. It’s a lively atmosphere where the community comes together to enjoy the festivities and celebrate Caribbean culture and heritage.
Who can participate in the parade?
We invite participants from all communities who wish to support and celebrate Caribbean culture. All are welcome to join us in this vibrant celebration. Sign up here.
Will there be other events during the i-Land Fest?
Yes, the parade is part of our two-day i-Land Fest, which will take place at Centennial Square. Check our website for more details on the events and activities planned.
