Join us as downtown Victoria comes alive with the rhythm, colour, and spirit of the Caribbean. Expect vibrant costumes, high-energy vibes, and nonstop soca as we take over the streets in true carnival style.
Whether you’re playing mas or cheering from the sidelines, this is a celebration you don’t want to miss.

What to Expect

- Loud music – this is a carnival parade, so expect powerful sound systems and nonstop soca music

- Interactive vibes – don’t be surprised if the music pulls you in!

Come & Play Mas!
This hands-on sessions give you the opportunity to design and create your own carnival headpiece, connect with community, and fully experience what it means to make mas and PLAY mas!
Once you’ve created your piece, you’ll take to the streets as part of the Rise of the Phoenix section in the i-Land Fest Grand Parade.
No costume? No problem—this is your way in.

When and where is the parade happening?
We’ll make our way along Government Street (pedestrian area) and end at Ship Point around 1:30 PM.

What does it mean to “play mas”?
Do I need a costume to join?
No, but costumes are encouraged! You can:
- Wear your own carnival costume
- Join the Rise of the Phoenix section
- Create or join a Mas Group
- Or simply come and enjoy the vibes
